1 lb ground beef
5 cups water
2 cups cubed potatoes
1 cup shredded cabbage
1 cup chopped onions
1 cup sliced celery
1/3 cup uncooked barley
1 1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp dried basil leaves
1/2 tsp dried thyme leaves
1/4 tsp pepper
1 bay leaf
1 (20 oz) can tomatoes undrained, cup up
1 (14.5) can green beans
1 (9 oz) pkg frozen chopped spinach

Directions:

Brown ground beef in 5-quart Dutch oven, drain. Stir in all remaining ingredients except spinach. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat: cover and simmer 30 minutes. Add frozen spinach; cover and simmer an additional 25 minutes. Stir to blend spinach into soup. Remove bay leaf.
