Ingredients:
Ingredients:
2 buttons garlic
2 large tbsp shortening
2 tbsp chili powder
1 lb ground beef
1 can kidney beans
salt and pepper to taste

Directions:
Directions:
Brown the meat and set aside.
Finely chop the garlic. Melt the shortening and add the garlic. When slightly brown, turn off burner and add the chili powder. Smooth out the lumps.
Add the meat over very slow fire and mix around to get chili through the meat. Add cooked beans and juice and more water and simmer. If not right, add salt, pepper or red chilies. Simmer very slowly as long as possible. If using more chili powder, make a paste.

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
Daddy (Sam Barr) always made a dark brownish chili. I think this is it. The recipe calls for cooked beans, juice and more water. I think the juice is the bean juice. Vici thinks it is tomato juice. I think if tomato juice is used it will turn red.
