Ingredients:

2 c. flour
2 c. oatmeal
2 c. brown sugar
Mix together and add:
1/2 c. Crisco
1/2 c. butter
Mix together.
Put half in bottom of 9" x 13" pan. Pack firmly.
Add 1 tsp. soda and 1 tsp. vanilla to the remaining half of the dry mixture.

1 c. chopped apples,
1 c. chopped dates,
2 c. sugar, and
1/2 c.water. Boil this mixture until tender. Allow this mixture to cool.
Put filling over first layer. Add top layer oatmeal mixture.
Bake for 25-30 minutes in a 350Fº oven.
Yield: 12 servings
