2 2/3 cups flour
1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup shortening
1 egg yolk
2/3 cup milk
4 cups peeled and sliced apple
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 egg white
1 cup powdered sugar

Directions:
Directions:
Mix flour, sugar, salt, shortening until crumbly. Stir egg yolk into milk. Use milk mixture to moisten flour crumbs and stir into a dough. Roll out 1/2 of dough to fit large jelly roll pan. Stir 1 cup sugar and cinnamon into apples. Spread mixture over dough. Roll out other half of dough and place on top of apples. Pinch edges together. Poke holes in top. Beat egg white until stiff. Spread over top crust. Bake at 400º for 40 minutes. Cool slightly. Glaze with powdered sugar mixed with a small amount of water. Continue to cool. Cut into squares.
