Ingredients:
Ingredients:
* 1 cup quinoa
* 1 cup barley (or 2 cups quinoa)
* 2# ground turkey (you can mix it with ground chicken, beef, lamb, bison, etc) turkey is easily digestible
* 4 eggs
* 1 package chopped spinach (frozen box) thawed
* 1 package butternut squash (frozen box) thawed
* water to consistency

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350
Bring 3 1/4 cups water to a boil. Add grain. Cover and simmer until liquid is almost gone. DO NOT STIR! Grain cooks by small steam pockets in pot! Take off burner and cool. Add thawed spinach, butternut squash, eggs, meat and combine thoroughly. You don't want this to be dry, and not hold shape like a meatloaf. Add water until it has the consistency of a sloppy meatloaf. Not too watery! Pour all ingredients in a 9x11 baking dish and bake until cooked though. About an hour.

***quinoa: is a grain-like crop grown primarily for its edible seeds. It is a pseudocereal rather than a true cereal, or grain, as it is not a member of the grass family. As a chenopod, quinoa is closely related to species such as beets, spinach, and tumbleweeds. it's also high in magnesium. You can find it at any health food store.

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
I was given this recipe in 2011 when I had a very sick dog that needed a diet that would be easy to digest. I have used this diet over and over for sick dogs and also as a replacement for canned food. It can be cut into squares and freezes well.
