1 c. butter
1/2 c. brown sugar
1 egg yolk, save egg white
2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
3/4 c. nuts, finely chopped

Directions:
Directions:
Mix together first 3 ingredients. Mix well. Add flour and salt, mixing well. Shape into 1" balls. Dip into reserved egg white, slightly beaten, and roll in finely chopped nuts. Place 1" apart on ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 5 minutes. Pull out pan and quickly put thumbprint in center of each cookie. Return to oven and continue to bake for 8 more minutes. Cool. Fill with colored icings or jelly or preserves.
