Directions:
Pastry strips:
Mix above ingredients and roll out slightly, as you would for a thick pie crust. Divide in half and place on a cookie sheet in the form of 2 long pastry strips, about 3” wide each.

Pastry wash:
Bring water to boil. Dissolve butter in boiling water. Remove from burner, add flour and stir in eggs (one at a time) until smooth. Add almond extract, stir. Spread mixture on top of pastry strips.
Bake at 450°F for 10 minutes, then 350°F for 40 minutes until golden brown. Remove to cool.

Pastry Icing:
Mix above ingredients to icing consistency. Spread icing on pastry strips, (optional: sprinkle chopped nuts on top of icing).

Slice pastry strips, diagonally, into 1”- 2” wide pieces. Serve cool or slightly warmed. Enjoy with your favorite cup of coffee, tea, hot chocolate or milk.
