1 head red cabbage (shredded)
⅓ c. vinegar
⅓ c. sugar

Directions:
Sauté bacon and onion together in a large frying pan in the vegetable oil until bacon is done. Meanwhile, parboil red cabbage and drain. Put red cabbage in frying pan with the bacon and onion, cover, and let steam on low heat for ˝ hour. Mix sugar and vinegar together and pour over cabbage. Add salt and pepper to taste. Stir and steam again on low heat for another 15 minutes. Serve hot. Mom LOVED this recipe. I've made it a couple of times and it's better than what I've had in German restaurants.
