2¼ c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
½ tsp. salt
¾ c. butter (softened)
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
2 T. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. walnuts (chopped)
1 c. dates (finely chopped)
⅓ c. maraschino cherries (finely chopped)
2⅔ c. corn flakes (crush down to 1⅓ c.)
15 maraschino cherries (cut into quarters)

Preheat oven to 350°. Grease baking sheets. Stir together flour, baking powder, and salt in a medium sized bowl until well blended. In a mixing bowl, beat together butter and sugar until light and fluffy on medium speed. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in milk and vanilla until well blended. Add dry ingredients; mix well. Fold in walnuts, dates, and chopped maraschino cherries. Shape by level tablespoons of dough into balls and roll in corn flakes. Place dough balls 1½ inch apart on baking sheets. Top each cookie with ¼ cherry. Bake for 12 minutes or until lightly browned. Remove to wire rack to cool. Makes about 5 dozen.
