Ingredients: 1 1/2 pounds Beef Stew meat cut to bite size pieces 1 teaspoon salt 1 medium onion cut fine 1/2 small cabbage 6 carrots 5 to 6 potatoes (medium size) 4 to 5 stalks of celery 1 large can tomatoes more salt and pepper to taste

Directions:Slightly flour meat. In a heavy soup kettle add a little oil. Put in the meat to slightly brown it. When meat is brown - add some beef broth and cook until tender. (Remove the meat) Add vegetables (except tomatoes) to the broth. Cook until tender. When tender add the cooked meat and add one large can of tomatoes. You may need to add more beef broth or water. Season with salt and pepper.
Note: Any other kids of vegetables can be added - also a little rice or barley - or both. (or leave out the potatoes and put in noodles instead. *Grandma Reiff says "Good luck and good eating to you and your family my dear. Love |

Notes: Mom made this soup often for our family. When my Mom would ask what I would like for my Birthday, I would request this soup. Mom passed shortly before my birthday in 1987. In her freezer, I found a container of her Beef Vegetable soup with my name taped on it. In time -- I set my table with my finest and served myself my birthday gift from my mother. My mother's homemade Beef Vegetable soup.
