Ingredients:
Ingredients:
10 eggs separated
3/4 c sugar, divided
3/4 c milk
2 1/4 c whipping cream
2 tsp. vanilla
1/4 c brown sugar, packed

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a large mixing bowl, mix egg yolks and 1/2 cup sugar until combined and sugar has dissolved. Add milk, whipping cream and vanilla; mix well.

Pour mixture into six 5-inch or ten 3-inch ramkins, filling 3/4 full. Place ramekins in a baking pan; add hot water to pan and bake 30 to 40 minutes or until knife inserted near center comes out clean.

Remove the ramekins from the baking pan and refrigerate for at least 2 hours and up to 3 days. Remove the creme brulee from the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes prior to browning the sugar on top.

This is the original recipe, we find this is way too much sugar! Just sprinkle with sugar and use torch to brown sugar. Before serving, combine remaining 1/4 cup sugar and brown sugar. Sprinkle sugar over top of each serving and broil for 5 minutes to brown, being careful not to scorch the crème brulee.

Carol's hints:

It probably will take longer than 40 minutes to bake. Be patient. We usually just sprinkle a little white sugar over the top of the cooled brulee and then use a blow torch to brow. Takes just a few seconds to do rather than using the broiler. I really like to serve it with fresh fruit on top like blueberries and strawberries. Have fun with it.
