1 c. vegetable oil
2 1/2 c. sugar, half white, half brown
3 c. flour
4 lg. eggs
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
1/2 tsp. salt
3 tsp. baking powder
2/3 c. orange juice
5 medium granny smith apples
2 tsp. cinnamon
5 tbsp. sugar

Mix first 8 ingredients together in a large bowl. Grease and flour a 10" tube pan. In another bowl, mix peeled and sliced apples with 2 tsp. cinnamon and 5 tbsp. sugar. Pour 1/3 batter into pan. Layer 1/2 apples, then more batter, apples, then finish with batter. Bake at 350º for 1 1/2 hours.

This old recipe has been a family favorite for years .I found the recipe in a copy of an old weekly paper called" The Grit".That was about 65 years ago!
Extra good with caramel icing.
