1/4 cup butter, softened
1/4 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 cup all purpose flour
1/4 cup confectioners sugar
1 to 2 tablespoons baking cocoa

Directions:
Cream butter. Add vanilla and mix well. Combine flour, sugar and cocoa; add to creamed mixture. Beat until dough holds together, about three minutes. Pat into a 9 in. X 4 in. rectangle. Cut into 2 X 1 1/2 in strips. Place 1 inch apart on ungreased baking sheet. Prick with a fork. Bake at 300 degrees for 20-25 minutes or until set. Cool for 5 minutes, remove to rack to cool completely.

This was a recipe clipped from a Woman's Day magazine many years ago. So many that the clipping is yellowed! I would never make just a dozen cookies, so I double or triple the recipe when I make it ( and it is easier to cream the butter and sugar together, rather than mixing it the way it is stated in the recipe).
