1 1/2 c. raw peanuts (unsalted, raw Spanish)
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. white corn syrup
1/8 tsp. salt
1 tsp. butter (do not use margarine)
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. baking soda

When pouring from bowl onto cookie sheet, immediately place Pyrex bowl under hot water; also the wooden spoon or spatula.

In a 1 1/2 qt. Pyrex bowl (suitable for microwave), stir together peanuts, syrup, sugar, and salt. Microwave at high speed for 4 minutes; remove from oven and stir. Return to oven and microwave at high for 4 more minutes. Remove from oven and stir in butter and vanilla stirring fast and well. Return to oven and microwave on high 2 minutes more.

Remove from oven and quickly stir in baking soda. Mixture will become light and foamy. Immediately pour into a lightly greased baking sheet. With a wooden spoon or spatula, spread thin. Let harden (not in refrigerator). When cool break into small pieces. Store in an air-tight container.
