1 cup packed brown sugar
½ cup maple-flavored syrup
1 can (about 12 oz) or two cups of salted mixed nuts (other nuts can be substituted)
1 T. margarine or butter
1 t. baking soda


Directions:
Directions:
1. Generously butter a large cookie sheet & keep it warm in a 200º oven.
2. Mix brown sugar and maple syrup in a large bowl (big enough to hold at least 8 cups).
3. Microwave uncovered on HIGH for 5 minutes. Stir in nuts. Microwave uncovered 5-7 minutes or until syrup is bubbling and nuts are toasted. Syrup will be very hot. Stir in margarine and microwave for 1 minute.
4. Quickly and thoroughly stir in baking soda until light and foamy. Pour onto the warmed cookie sheet and quickly spread the nut mixture evenly.
5. Cool 30-60 minutes or until hard. Break into pieces.
