For the pie:
2 pastry crusts
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. molasses
1 egg
1 tsp. baking soda
1 T. flour
2 c. boiling water

For the crumb topping:
2 c. flour
1 c. brown sugar
1 tsp. baking soda
pinch salt
1/2 c. shortening

Directions:
Directions:
For the pie: Mix all ingredients, add the 2 c. boiling water and chill. Mix topping ingredients to form crumbs. Pour liquid in to unbaked pie sells. Put crumbs on top. Bake at 350 for 35-45 minutes.

My Mom, Elda Dorsey, was "famous" for this pie! She would even bake this for me to give to my "patients" in dental hygiene school to "thank" them for sitting for HOURS on end!!
