Ingredients: 2 yeast cakes or packages. 1 teaspoon sugar. 1 cup warm water. 2 cups scalded milk. 10-11 cups flour.(start with 8 cups, add enough to make soft dough) 2/3 cups melted Crisco. 2 eggs beaten. 3/4 cups sugar. Raisins and coconut.
Candy for bottom of (2) 9x13 pans. 1 cup Brown sugar. 1cup Karo syrup. 1 stick butter.

Directions:FOR CANDY: Bring to boil (stirring all the time) all ingredients. Brown sugar, Karo syrup and butter. Remove from heat. Pour into bottom of geased pan.
ROLLS: Dissolve yeast with 1 tsp. sugar in 1 cup warm water. Let stand covered in warm place for about 15 minutes. (About 4 times it's starting size) Scald milk by heating to almost boiling temperature. . Do not boil. Add yeast and milk to flour and mix. Add beaten eggs; melted shortening and sugar to make soft dough. Let stand for 10 minutes. Kneed until smooth. Place in greased bowl to rise. When twice it's size place on board. Stretch to about 10" by 20". Spread butter on all but an inch on long side away from you. Mix sugar and cinnamon and put over buttered area. Add raisins and coconut. Roll away from you and seal by pinching unbuttered part to roll. Cut into 1" rolls. Put into pan. Let rise until doubled in size. Bake at 350 degrees for about 20 minutes or until light brown. Take from oven and turn upside down on rack to cool. ENJOY. |
