2 c. pitted Dates (2 10 oz pkgs) cut each into 3-4 pieces
2 t. Baking Soda
2 c. boiling Water
2 c. Sugar
3 T. Butter
2 large/jumbo Eggs
2 t. Vanilla
4 c. Flour
1 t. Salt
1/2-1 c. Walnuts (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven 325 degrees. Add boiling water to the dates and baking soda; set aside. Cream together sugar and butter. Add eggs and vanilla and then combine date water mixture. Then add flour, salt and walnuts. Pour into greased pans. Bake approximately 40 minutes
