Mix together:
1 C. shortening, 1 tsp. baking soda, 1/2 tsp. salt and 1 C. peanut butter
Then add:
1 C. white sugar, 2 beaten eggs, 1 C. brown sugar and 2 C. flour

Directions:

Roll dough into small balls and place on a cookie sheet. Press flat with a fork. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes.

This is exactly how the recipe appeared on Mom's recipe card when I copied it way back when. .

I add 1 C. mini chocolate chips to the batter then scoop them out with a medium ice cream scoop. I don't flatten them out. I also put about 9 cookies to a parchment lined sheet, since they spread to about 3 inches. I also bake them for about 14 minutes. Depending on how the 1st batch is, I will sometimes go the full 15 minutes. Be sure to cool them before removing from the baking sheet, they will be a bit soft.
