1 stick butter, softened
1 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 (21 oz.) can cherry pie filling
1/2 cup confectioners sugar
4 oz. cream cheese, softened
3 tablespoon milk

Preheat oven to 350º.

Line an 8 x 8-inch baking pan with aluminum foil. Spray with nonstick spray and set aside.
In a large mixing bowl, add butter and sugar. Mix for 1 to 2 minutes. Add salt, eggs and vanilla extract; continue stirring until fully incorporated. Mix in flour and baking powder. Reserve 1/2 cup of dough. Press remaining dough into prepared baking pan. Top with cherry pie filling. Drop reserved 1/2 cup dough in pieces over cherry filling.

Bake for 50 to 60 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from oven and cool completely.

In a separate bowl, mix together confectioners sugar, cream cheese and milk until smooth. Drizzle glaze over bars and cut into squares.

Grandma Nedostup used to make these without the icing. You may remember going to Grandma's house and her serving these.

I love it with the icing. It makes these extra sweet.
