Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1 - 16 oz. box confectioners sugar
3 egg whites
1/2 tsp cream of tartar

*food coloring if desired

Directions:
Directions:
In large bowl, with mixture at low speed, beat ingredients until blended. Increase speed to high speed. Beat mixture until it is so stiff that a knife drawn through the mixture leaves a clean-cut path.

Divide frosting into small bowls. Tint each bowl of frosting with food coloring as desired, and if necessary, add a little water so icing will spread easily. Keep all bowls covered to prevent frosting from drying out.

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
I use this recipe when I ice sugar cookies. The boys and I frosted cut-out cookies with this icing when they were little. They liked to help bake cookie-cutter sugar cookies for various holidays. We made a mess, but it was fun. They had little "Betty Crocker" aprons. I'm saving them for my grandchildren to use someday..
