¼ lb. peppermint stick candy
6 T water
1¼ c sugar
¼ t salt
¼ t cream of tartar
2 egg whites, unbeaten

Directions:
Directions:
Crush candy; add water. Let stand until candy dissolves. Combine remaining ingredients in top of double boiler. Add dissolved candy; stir thoroughly. Beat over hot water with rotary beater about 7 minutes or until mixture stands in very firm peaks. Spread on cooled cake: Icing for 3-layer 8" or 2-layer 9" cake.
