3 cups flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
3/4 cup shortening
1 1/2 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 cup sour milk*
1 can vanilla frosting
1 can chocolate frosting

* To make milk sour add small amounts of vinegar to the milk and mix. Add more vinegar as needed until the milk tastes sour.

Preheat the oven to 375º

Mix flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a bowl. In a separate bowl cream the shortening and sugar. Beat the eggs and vanilla and add to the creamed mixture. Add the dry ingredients alternately with the milk. Drop by tablespoons on a greased cookie sheet about 2 inches apart. Bake at 375º for 12-15 minutes. Remove from cookie sheet and cool on a wire rack. When cool, spread half of each with vanilla frosting and half with chocolate frosting.
