Pudding:
1 quart milk
2 T. sugar
6 slices sandwich bread, cubed
1/4 c. raisins
2 eggs
nutmeg

Custard:
1 pt. milk
1 egg yolk
1/4 c. flour
1/8 c. sugar
small amount of milk
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 T. butter

Syrup:
1 egg white
2 T. sugar
2 T. water

Directions:
Directions:
Combine all ingredients for pudding. Pour into a 2-quart baking dish. Sprinkle with nutmeg. Bake 1 hour at 350 degrees or until top is brown. Next, in a double boiler, heat milk for custard (do not boil). When milk is hot, add remainder of custard ingredients blending well. Pour over pudding. Finally, make a syrup out of the water and sugar. Beat egg white until soft peaks form. Fold egg white into syrup and pour over custard. Return to oven and bake until top is golden brown. Serve warm.
