16 oz Can Chickpeas, reserve the liquid
OR boil garbanzo beans covered with water by 2 inches, bring to boil then simmer until very tender about 1 1/2 to 2 hours. Drain, reserve the cooking liquid.

Transfer Chickpeas to food processor or blender and add:

1/3 C. Fresh Lemon Juice
3T. Tahini (Sesame seed paste)
2 Garlic Cloves finely minced
1/2 Tsp. ground Cumin
1 Tsp. Garlic Salt

Optional: Red Pepper flavored hummus

Puree in food processor or blender until smooth, add reserved cooking liquid to obtain a soft, creamy consistency. Transfer to serving bowl and garnish with 1 T olive oil, 1 T finely chopped parsley, sprinkle with hot or sweet ground paprika.

Dip warmed Pita bread into Hummus or wheat thins, or veggies, such as cucumber, peppers, olives or celery. Very high source of protein, healthy and low fat.

Tahini butter is similar to peanut butter and you can find it by Peanut or Almond Butter. It's expensive but you use very little in each batch so it lats a very long time.
