2 cups raisins
3/4 cup water
1 tsp baking soda

2 cups brown sugar 3 cups flour
1 cup shortening 1 tsp salt
2 eggs well beaten 2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp vanilla 1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg

Directions:
Directions:
Boil raisins in 3/4 cup of water for 5 minutes .
Stir in 1 tsp baking soda and let cool.

In a separate bowl mix remainder of ingredients.
Add in raisins.
Drop on greased cookie sheet or parchment paper lined pan.
Bake @425º for approx.15 -20 minutes.
