1 cup quick oatmeal
1 1/2 cup boiling water
1 stick margarine
2 eggs
1 cup white sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
1 1/2 cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt

FROSTING:
1/2 cup butter
1/4 cup milk
1 cup brown sugar
2 cups powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 cup chopped nuts (Optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Boil water then add oatmeal, margarine together in mixing bowl. When this is cool add eggs and sugar to mixture, then flour, soda, salt and cinnamon. Mix all together . Put in greased and floured 10-15 bar pan. Bake at 350º for 30 minutes.

Cool and frost with 1/2 cup butter, 1/4 cup milk, 1 cup brown sugar. Combine together and boil for 2 minutes, then add 2 cups powdered sugar, nuts and vanilla.

This is such an easy and quick recipie and so good. Used it a lot for quick bars for church or Legion. I like to sprinkle chopped nuts on top of bars but you have to be careful with allergies to peanuts so I don't do that if I am taking the bars to a function.
