3/4 cup butter
3/4 cup white sugar
34 cup brown sugar
1 egg, beaten
3/4 cup peanut butter
1 tsp vanilla
1 3/4 cup flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
granulated sugar
jam or jelly

Directions:
Directions:
In a large bowl, cream butter and sugars thoroughly. Add egg, peanut butter, and vanilla. Blend well.

Combine dry ingredients and add to butter mixture.

Shape dough into 1-inch balls. Roll each ball in sugar. Place 2-3 inches apart on lightly greased baking sheets. Press thumb deeply into centre of each ball. Bake at 375 for 8-10 minutes until firm but not hard.

While still warm, spoon a small amount of jam or jelly into each thumbprint.
