1 bar Fels Naptha Soap, grated (with a food processor or by hand with a cheese grater)
1 cup "20 Mule Team Borax"
1 cup Arm and Hammer Washing Soda (NOT BAKING SODA)
6 cups hot water

Directions:
Put 6 cups of water in a large heavy saucepan over high heat. While that is heating, mix the borax and washing soda together in a bowl; set aside.

Add the freshly grated soap to the water in the saucepan, stirring almost constantly. Reduce the heat to medium. DO NOT let this boil over.

Once the soap has completely melted, remove the pan from the heat and add in the borax and the washing soda, stirring constantly until the powders are completely dissolved.

Pour the liquid into a large blender and allow to sit for about 4-5 hours. The soap is going to separate into layers while it's resting.

After waiting a few hours, break up the solid layer at the top. Whip in the blender until smooth and creamy throughout. Once smooth and creamy, pour into a wide-mouth plastic container.

To use: Add 1 tablespoon to a load of laundry in any type of machine. It you are using a top load washer where you can have the lid open while the water starts running in, just hold the spoonful of detergent under the running water until the spoon is clean. If you have a front loader, dissolve the spoonful of detergent in a jar half filled with hot water, then pour the soapy water into the detergent space in the washer.
