• 1/3 c soft shortening
• 1/3 c packed brown sugar
• 1 egg
• 2/3 c molasses
• 2 3/4 c sifted flour
• 1 t baking soda
• 1 t salt
• 2 t cinnamon
• 1 t ginger

Directions:
Directions:
1. Mix together 1/3 cup shortning, 1/3 cup packed brown sugar, 1 egg, and 2/3 cup molasses.

2. Sift together and stir in 2 3/4 cup flower, 1 tsp baking soda, 1 tsp salt, 2 tsp. cinnamon, and 1 tsp ginger.

3. Chill dough at least 1 hour.

4. Roll out 1/4 inch thick. Lightly dust cookie cutters with flour and cut dough into desired shapes. Place 1" apart on greased cookie sheet.

5. Bake at 375° F for 8-10 minutes or until when touched lightly with finger, no imprint remains.

6. Cool and frost with powdered sugar mixed with water.
