4 tbsp. butter
1 cup white sugar
1 egg
1 small bottle maraschino cherries
2 cups all purpose flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1/4 cup chopped nuts optional

Directions:
Directions:
Mix together butter, sugar, eggs, and quartered cherries. Pour the juice from the cherries into a one cup measuring cup and add milk to make a full cup. In a separate bowl mix dry ingredients together. Add cherry and milk mixture to the butter mixture alternating with the dry ingredients. Bake in a moderate (350 º F) oven for about 45 minutes. Let cool slightly (5 -10 minutes) in loaf pan. Turn out onto a rack to let completely cool. Let stand 24 hours before slicing. This never happens at our house.
