Salt
Sugar
Pint Jars, Seals and Rings
Fennel seed

Directions:
Directions:
Cut cabbage and then stuff into jars. Then add on top of cabbage:
1 1/2 teaspoon salt,
1/2 teaspoon sugar,
1/2 fennel seed (optional).
Boil water (depends on how many jars) and pour over cabbage.
Seal immediately with rings and lids. Let set for couple weeks and enjoy.
Good on brats.

From Sandi: My mom cut up cabbage and placed in a small crock with the same salt, sugar, and fennel . She let it set covered for couple of weeks, then put mixture in jars and heated to boil, boil for about 15 minutes. Great way to keep extra cabbage. Good sauerkraut.
