1 lb. bacon
1 large onion
1 head of cabbage
1 large can sauerkraut
peppercorns
kielbasa

Directions:
Directions:
Cut bacon up into cubes, fry until crispy. Take out a little of the fat. Dice onion, fry in bacon fat till clear.
Shred the cabbage, add to onion/bacon mix. Cook for about 10 minutes, stirring constantly, until cooked through.
Add sauerkraut, well rinsed. Simmer on low heat for 1 hr or more. Also good to throw into crock pot for few hours. Add few peppercorns.
Add kielbasa, cut into chunks.

On a warmish winter day, Franny and his dad were ice fishing not far from the cottage where we lived. Being a good newlywed wife, I made a pot of this and brought it out to them. Never saw such a happy pair of fishermen!
