1 chocolate cake mix
3.9 oz pkg instant chocolate pudding mix
3 eggs, lightly beaten
1 cup sour cream
⅓ cup butter, melted
1 tsp vanilla extract
3¼ cup milk, divided
3.4 oz pkg cook and serve chocolate pudding mix
2 cups mini marshmallows
¾ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
½ cup chopped pecans
Vanilla ice cream

1. Put your dry cake mix, dry instant pudding mix, eggs, sour cream, melted butter, vanilla and 1¼ cups of milk in a large mixing bowl
2. Mix with an electric mixer for approximately two minutes
3. Lightly spray crock pot with cooking spray (or you can use a crock pot liner)
4. Pour batter into crock pot
5. Sprinkle cook and serve dry pudding mix on top of your batter - do not stir
6. Pour the remaining 2 cups of milk into a saucepan and heat through over medium heat - do not boil, stirring frequently
7. Gently pour hot milk over pudding mix - do not stir
8. Cover and cook on low for 2 - 2½ hours
9. Turn off your crock pot and take the lid off - your cake will set up as it stands
10. Sprinkle marshmallows, chocolate chips and pecans on top of cake and let stand for approximately 15 minutes - until the marshmallows start to melt
11. Serve with vanilla ice cream if desired.

Cooking recommendation:
The above recipe is using a 6 quart crock pot. If using a 4 quart crock pot, it will take approximately 3 1/2 hours.

Derek made this for me for the first time on my birthday in 2015, and it instantly became one of our favorites. Even though it seems like a lot of ingredients and steps, it is very quick and easy and WORTH it! ~ Even though Melissa and Tina blamed us younger cousins for popping the bean bag chair at Grandma's house, don't let them fool you - we all know THEY did it!!
