Ingredients:  
-1 quart (4 cups) fresh fruit - peaches, cherries, berries, etc.
-1 cup sugar
-1 tsp lemon juice
-1/4 tsp almond extract

-1.5 cups flour
-3 tsp baking powder
-1/2 tsp salt
-1/3 cup shortening
-1 egg
-1/2 cup milk

Directions:
Directions:
-Preheat oven to 400º.
-Arrange fruit in a greased 8.5x9 baking dish.
-Mix together sugar, lemon juice & almond extract.
-Sprinkle over fruit and place in oven while you prepare the topping.

-Sift remaining dry ingredients, cut in shortening and add liquid at once.
-Stir until flour is moistened.
-Remove fruit from the oven and spoon dough over the hot fruit.
-Spread it lightly with the back of the spoon.
-Sprinkle with sugar.
-Bake about 30 minutes or until golden brown.
