1½ c Gladiola Flour™, sifted
½ t baking powder
¾ t salt
1½ c sugar, sifted
½ c cold water
¾ t cream of tartar
1 t vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 325º. Sift flour once and measure. Add baking powder and salt to flour. Sift 4 times. Separate 5 eggs and beat yolks well. Add water to egg yolks and continue beating until mixture is light. Sift sugar and measure. Add sugar to egg yolk mixture and beat until creamy. Add vanilla. Add flour mixture to egg, sugar and vanilla mixture. Beat thoroughly until blended and light. Beat egg whites until frothy, add cream of tartar, and beat until stiff. Egg whites should form stiff peaks but not dry. Fold beaten egg whites into batter. Bake in greased tube pan about 1 hour.
