2 pkg. pearl onions
3 T butter
3 T flour
1 c milk
salt
white pepper
cardamom
2 green onions, sliced thin
1/2 cornbread crumbs
2 T melted butter

Directions:
Directions:
Blanch onions for 3 minutes in boiling water. Cut off ends and peel. Place onions in 1 qt. casserole, buttered.

Make white sauce with butter, flour and milk. When thick season with salt, white pepper and cardamom to taste (approximately. 1/2 t.) Add green onions. Stir into the onions in the casserole. Sprinkle crumbs, mixed with butter, over the casserole and bake 30-40 minutes, uncovered in a 350º oven.
