1/4 c (1/2 stick) soft butter
1/2 c sugar
1 egg
1 T fresh lemon juice
1/4 t grated lemon peel
1/8 t ground nutmeg
1 c all-purpose flour
1 t baking powder
1/4 t salt
1/4 c milk
2 c blueberries (1 pint - fresh or frozen unsweetened)

Topping:

1/2 c sugar
1/3 c all purpose flour
1/4 c (1/2 stick) soft butter

Optional: Whipped cream or vanilla ice cream

1) In large mixing bowl, cream sugar and butter. Add egg, lemon juice, lemon peel and nutmeg

2) Combine flour, baking powder and salt. Blend into creamed mixture - alternating with milk

3) Butter an 8" or 9” square pan. Spread cake mixture into the pan. Sprinkle blueberries evenly over the mixture.

4) In a small bowl, combine the topping ingredients until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Sprinkle over blueberries.

5) Bake at 375 degrees F for 40-45 minutes or until top is golden and wooden skewer inserted in the center comes out clean.

6) Serve warm with whipped cream or ice cream.

This recipe is so good - all year around. Easy to make with frozen blueberries - but it may take a few more minutes to bake when using frozen.
