Ingredients:	Ingredients: 2 c sugar 1 c butter 4 eggs 1 t orange zest 4 c sifted flour 2 t salt 1 t baking soda 2 c dates 1 c nuts 1⅓ c buttermilk 1 c sugar 1 c orange juice 1 t orange zest

Directions:	Directions: Preheat oven to 350°. Cream in mixing bowl sugar and butter. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add orange zest to mixture. In another bowl, sift flour, salt and baking soda. Add dates and nuts to flour mixture. Mix well. Alternately, add flour mixture and buttermilk to egg mixture. Pour batter into greased and floured tube pan. Bake for 1 hour, or until toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. While cake bakes, combine 1 cup sugar, orange juice and 1 teaspoon orange zest in sauce pan. Cook until thickens, like syrup. Remove cake from oven and immediately pour syrup over cake. Allow to set for 30 minutes before turning out. Cake should sit upside-down overnight. Turn cake right-side up and serve.
