1 10oz loaf of stale French bread (works even better with Challah)
4 c milk (use 3 cups milk and 1 cup Bailey's Irish Cream)
2 c sugar
8 T melted butter
3-5 eggs (depending on size)
2 T vanilla (key ingredient)
Optional ingredients:
1 c raisins
1 T cinnamon
1 c coconut, 1 c nuts, 1 T nutmeg

Whiskey Sauce
1/2 c butter
1 1/2 c powdered sugar
2 egg yolks
1/2 c liquor (bourbon, scotch, Irish creme, amaretto, rum, etc)

Directions:
Directions:
Mash dry bread and add milk, sugar, butter, eggs, and vanilla. Mixture should be moist but not soupy, with a consistency similar to cooked oatmeal. If to dry add more eggs.

Fold in Optional ingredients. Spray METAL NOT GLASS 9x12 pan. Pour mixture into pan. Place in NON PRE-HEATED oven turn oven to 350 and bake approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes. Top should be golden brown.

Serve warm with sauce

Directions for Whiskey Sauce
Cream butter and sugar over medium heat until all butter is absorbed. Remove from heat and stir in egg yolks. Pour in liquor gradually to your own taste, stirring constantly. Sauce will thicken as it cools.
