1 pkg. caramel bits, or caramels
1/3 cup evaporated milk
1 pkg German chocolate cake mix
3/4 cup melted butter
1/3 cup evaporated milk
1 cup chocolate chips
1 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Melt caramels and 1/3 cup evaporated milk over low heat; set aside. Combine cake mix, melted butter and 1/3 cup evaporated milk (and nuts). Make into dough and press half of mixture into 9x13 pan. Bake @ 350 for 6 minutes. Spread caramel mixture over bake dough and sprinkle with chocolate chips. Top with remaining dough, crumbling here and there. Bake @ 350 for 15 to 18 minutes.
