Ingredients:
Ingredients:
Greek Baklava
Cheri Bosh

2 lbs almonds chopped 1 ¼ lbs butter
1 lbs walnuts chopped ½ tsp ground cloves
1 tsp cinnamon ½ tsp allspice
1 lb filo pastry sheets Baklava honey syrup (below)

Baklava syrup:
4 cups sugar 1 slice lemon
2 cups water 1 slice orange
½ cup honey 1 stick cinnamon

This recipe is delicious and was given to me from my friend May Kay Lingo’s grandmother from Greece.

Directions:
Directions:
Combine finely chopped almonds & walnuts with cinnamon, cloves & allspice. Melt butter, brush bottom of 14 X 20 in pan with butter. Place one pastry sheet on bottom of pan & brush with butter, repeat until 8 sheets line bottom of pan; each individually brushed with the melted butter. Sprinkle with nut mixture, layer another sheet of filo, brush with butter and sprinkle with nut mixture. Repeat until nut mixture is gone about 7 layers.
Cut all the way down, into diamond shapes before baking. Place a whole clove in the middle of each piece. Bake in 300 oven for 2 hours or until golden brown.
Baklava Syrup: Combine all ingredients in a pan, boil 10-15 minutes. Keep warm until Baklava is done baking.
When baked remove from oven and pour Baklava honey syrup over it all, make sure both the Baklava and the honey are hot.

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
My friend, Mary Kay Lingos invited me to her parents house to make Baklava with her mother and grandmother for their Easter celebration. This recipe was given to me by the grandmother with Mary Kay translating from Greek. Greek Orthadox's Easter is usually a week or two after Traditional Easter.
