Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1 cup butter
2 1/4 cups firmly packed brown sugar
1 cup light corn syrup
14-oz can sweetened condensed milk

1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla

Waxed paper cut into 4-inch squares

Directions:
Butter a 9-inch square pan. Line the pan with heavy duty aluminum foil and butter that also.

In a heavy 3-quart saucepan, melt butter. Add sugar and mix well. Stir in corn syrup; cook until well blended and sugar dissolves. Remove pan from heat; stir in sweetened condensed milk. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until mixture reaches the soft ball stage on a candy thermometer (240°F.), about 20 to 30 minutes.

Remove from heat and stir in vanilla.

Pour mixture into prepared pan. Cool to room temperature. When candy has set, carefully lift candy to remove from pan. Put on a cutting board and peel of the foil. Using a thin or serrated knife cut cooled caramel into 3/4 to 1 inch squares with a light, sawing motion. Rinse the knife as needed. Wrap in waxed paper. Store in refrigerator.

These are the best caramels you'll ever eat! Wonderful buttery caramels, a pain to wrap but worth it.
