1 Devils Food Cake mix

FILLING (top of cake or bars)
3/4 cup sugar
2/3 cup crisco or butter
5 oz. canned milk (evaporated)
2 tsp. vanilla
Dash of salt

Directions:
Mix and bake cake mix as directed. Let cool.

Beat filling ingredients until thick and fluffy (about 10 minutes). Spread on cooled cake. Heat a can of chocolate frosting and spread over the filling.

Verna used to make this for Frank to take to work. I like to make the Texas cake. The cake is firmer and Herbie Beahm says that is what I call a piece of cake Phyllis.
