Beat eggs well, add sugar gradually. Add other ingredients in order given, beating constantly to blend well.

Divide into five portions, form into long rolls, and place into lightly greased roasting pan or baking sheet.

Bake in a 400-degree for 25 minutes or until golden. While hot, cut into slices, and return to oven reduced to 350 degrees for 10 minutes or until crisp.

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
This recipe belonged to my maternal grandmother Sara, who guarded it fiercely, only sharing modified versions for many years that always yielded less-than-stellar results. Finally when she was near the end of her life she gave my mom the real recipe, saying “Maybe instead of adding water, try orange juice. Maybe try three eggs instead of two,” and on and on with my father finally injecting “No wonder it was never as good as yours because it’s not even the same recipe.”
