2 lbs. of chicken
1 c. medium shell macaroni
2 c. chicken broth
1/2 c. flour
1/2 c. American cheese
2 c. buttered bread crumbs

Directions:
Directions:
Cook the chicken in the chicken broth.
Cube the cheese.
Butter the bread crumbs. (I use unseasoned store bought crumbs.)
Remove the chicken pieces and reserve the broth. Cool slightly.
Remove the chicken skin, bone it and cut it into cubes.
Cook the macaroni in lightly salted water and drain it.
Whisk the flour into 1/2 cup of water and use to thicken the broth.
Combine chicken, macaroni, thickened broth and cubed cheese.
Pour into a buttered two quart baking dish.
Top with the buttered bread crumbs.
Bake uncovered for 30 minutes at 350º.

This was my mother's traditional Christmas Eve entre. It can be prepared the day before and popped into the oven just before it is needed. It goes well with the rich salads and deserts that usually accompany it.
