4 cups sifted all purpose flour
6 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup butter, softened
2 eggs, lightly beaten
2 jars (12 oz each) preserves or nut mixture (see below)
milk (see measurement below)

Directions:
Directions:
Sift flour with baking powder and salt.

Cut in softened butter with pastry blender.

Combine lightly beaten eggs with enough milk to make 1 cup plus 2 tablespoons of liquid.

Add to flour mixture.

Mix well until dough no longer sticks to bowl.

Divide dough into 4 portions. Roll out each portion to 1/8 inch thickness on pastry cloth sprinkled with sugar. Cut into 2 inch squares.

Place 1/2 tsp. preserves onto each square or fill with nut filling (see below).

Pull 2 opposite corners to the middle slightly overlapping.

Bake in 350 degree oven 10-12 minutes.

Loosen carefully from baking sheet (they tend to break easily).

Nut mixture:
1 cup nuts, finely ground
1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1/4 cup warm milk
Blend together the following ingredients into a smooth paste.
