2 cups cheeries sweetened - add 1 tsp almond flavoring
2 cups sifted flour
1 cup milk
4 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
6 Tblsp. shortening
3/4 cups sugar
1 tsp. vanilla or almond flavoring

Cherry Sauce for Cobbler

2 cups cherry juice
1/4 cup lemon juice
1/8 tsp. salt
3 Tblsp. cornstarch

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening and sugar, add flavoring. Sift flour, salt, and baking powder together. Add the flour mixture alternately with the milk, to the creamed mixture. Pour in oiled baking pan and put cherries on top. Bake at 375 degrees about 45 minutes.

For sauce:

Bring first 3 ingredients to a boil. Add 3 T. cornstarch that has been softened in water. Sweeten mixture to taste.
