1/2 c. shortening (I use butter)
1 c. sugar
2 eggs, beaten
3/4 c. raisin juice
1 c. drained cooked raisins
2 c. all purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
2 c. oatmeal
1 c. nutmeats

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening and sugar; add beaten eggs and mix until smooth. Add the soda, dissolved in the raisin juice. Sift flour and salt. Stir in the flour. Stir in the oatmeal and nuts.
Drop by spoonful onto a greased cookie sheet.
Bake at 350º F for 15 minutes.
Yield: 3-4 dozen

Grandma often made these on the farm... I recall one summer making them with her to serve to hay balers. She made after they moved to town too.
