1/4 cup butter or margarine
1/4 cup shortening
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 cup flour
2 eggs
1 additional cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 T. additional flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup coconut
1 cup chopped almonds

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter, shortening and 1/2 cup brown sugar. Blend in 1 cup flour. Press evenly in bottom of ungreased 13 x 9" pan. Bake 10 minutes at 350º. In the meantime, beat 2 eggs, add 1 cup brown sugar, 1 teaspoon vanilla, 2 T flour, baking soda, salt, coconut and almonds. Spread over baked crust. Bake 25 minutes longer. Cool slightly before cutting into bars.
